A lovely 3-piece tea service in old Sheffield silverplate that dates to the mid 19th century with classical Georgian design and fine quality.Patterned with rounded fluting along the bases and delicately hooked handles,a popular Georgian design that was developed circa 1800 and became a prolific favourite throughout the 19th century.Many early English pottery sets fabricated in the Staffordshire district boasted the sae designs between 1800-1830.Heavy electro-plated base metal that appears to be pewter.The teapot is of magnificent classical design and has a silvered handle with wood heat buffers and fine ebonized wooden mushroom finial.Marked on the base with the initials T.W.,which most likely indicates Thomas Watson and Co.Also marked with a star device mark,an impressed "S" and possibly a triangle.Accompanying creamer and open sugar bowl are of equally pleasing and classic designs.The teapot and creamer are inscribed underneath with the #6318,possibly an insurance mark or faux registry mark found on some Sheffield pieces.All 3 pieces are assumed to be part of the same set but cannot be verified.Teapot measures 10 1/2 inches long X 6 inches high.Sugar bowl measures 7 1/4 inches long X 4 1/2 inches high.It appears to be an open design never intended to have a lid.The creamer measures 6 inches long X 4 1/4 inches high.All pieces are read more
