FINE ANTIQUE EARLY 19th CENTURY FILIGREE 13 LOTHSILVER TEA STRAINER w/ LONG EBONY WOOD HANDLE Marked with "13", "N" and a small oval maker's mark with tree. "13" stands for 13 LothSilver (812/1000 content); "N" might be Nuremberg, Germany; maker's mark unknown(?). Distinctive & elegant neo-classical design. Amazing craftsmanship with incredibly fine filigree detail. Made by a very gifted silversmith, likely around the years 1800 to 1850. Possibly of German origin. Regretfully with a noticeable repair and a few minor losses, but still very beautiful and desirable. Condition Details (please read carefully and check all pictures): The silver handle once broken off from the strainer cup and reattached, and the cup reinforced with a flat barpiece nearby. One of the filigree windings at the bottom of the cup lost. One of the fence bars at the front has a small loss at the top end. Some dings and small bends along the cup rim. The handle and joint excellent andholding firmly. Some oxidation in the filigree work, as well as common traces of use and exposure over time. Size and Weight: Overall 7-7/8" (20 cm) long. Cup is 2-1/2 by 1-3/4" (6.3 by 4.4 cm) wide and 11/16" (1.7 cm) high.Wood handle is 4-1/2" (11.4 cm) long and between 1/8" (3 mm) and 5/16" (8 mm) thick. Weight: approx. 0.5 ozs (14 grams).
