No Reserve. we are offering an Elegant, Beautifully Colored and Delicately Detailed Rose Bouquet, Mid Nineteenth Century, Ultra Fine Micro Mosaic Ring. These miniature masterpieces date as far back as the roman times and the material used to create them is called tesserae. Tesserae is made up of heated glass with added metal oxides pulled into small strands and cut into minuscule colorful pieces. These tiny tiles are precisely placed together merging into a single image and set by some sort of mortar into carved stone or fused into a bed of glass. This particular art treasure depicts a wonderful floral design with two lovely roses surrounded by tiny forget-me-nots and leaves all inlaid into an oval slab of highly polished black glass. This in turn is mounted in a very unique and exquisite, romantic and quite gothic setting of thorns, accented by leaves and flowers. The setting appears to be sterling silver and has developed a rich and beautiful patina over time.
