This auction is for an antique (ca. 1910) and gorgeous 14 Kt gold and shell cameo brooch / pendant from the estate of Mrs. Jack Warner. Brooch sports a masterfully carved depiction of the three Graces (Euphrosyne, Aglaia & Thalia). In classical mythology these three goddesses of Beauty, Charm and Joy were considered to be the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome and formed part of Aphrodite's retinue. Shell cameo is exactingly carved in a detailed an immaculate composition of flowing beauty, showing three full-figured nubile young women huddled close together in an embrace. The three Graces are garbed in flowing, diaphanous dresses and stand over a grassy surface underneath an arched floral garland symbolizing their close and fragile ties. Cameo is set in a 14 Kt. gold (not marked, but tested) pin and measures 2" long x 1 5/8" wide. Sports a hinged pin, safety catch and bail to hang from a chain. Condition is very good, sports no areas of unsightly damage or repairs. A gorgeous antique brooch is offered for a low opening bid and no reserve. Thank you.
