A beautiful and early pudding mold in white ironstone earthenware from the mid 19th century with rare pineapple design and bluish pearlware glaze.Cast in thick, heavy cream-coloured stoneware in oval form with pronounced ribbed inner sides and a fabulously detailed pineapple impression including feathery base leaves and stem.Smooth, sloping outer sides and good pronounced oval foot.A good sized mold as well, measuring 8 1/2 inches in length and standing 3 3/4 inches high. The piece retains a superb shiny glaze for it`s age that is of bluish pearlware tint and is pooled slightly within the base design. It is in overall very good condition, though t is crazing to the glaze and t is an older chip to the upper outside edge and several small ones to the foot.None mar the beauty of this lovely mold, and on the whole the piece appears to have seen little use or was well cared for.A wonderful early pudding mold with some fine rare qualities;done in harder to find white ironstone, sporting a pearlware glaze, and having a unique pineapple theme.Period circa 1850-1870.
