An excellent quality pair of small Bronze Stirrups for a lady or child or possibly an antique carrousel, first half of the nineteenth century. These are probably French, as they are in the late Empire style and period, Probably second empire, Napoleon III period. 1810 - 1840s period. They were used, and show some evidence of silver and gilt like ormollu. Pale hard bronze, not brass, with nice patina. They are finely cast pierced and chased with acanthus leaf and greek fan openwork. All details are stipple shaded a real sign of quality, see my large photos. Heavy and Quality piece of high ranking horse Saddle Tack. Swivel strap lugs. May have been from a side saddle, or for a pony. 6 inches by 4 inches each.
