This is a fine early oak carved bible box dating circa late 18century I am advised. The bible box has superb hand carvings of sunflowers to top and three sides all done in deep relief.. The carving is of fine and intricate detail. Very beautiful. Brass hinges to lid. This box is in excellent and age commensurate condition. Some old ink staining or so it appears inside box. This box is an unusual and a wonderful compact size. Measures some 4.5" high, depth some 9.5" and a length of some 18.5". This is a fine, and a very collectable early carved bible box with sunflowers decorating in relief which will make a superb decorative display.
