Preferred Checkout Stock Number: FR1-1005 Approximate Weight: 125 lbs. This MAGNIFICENT BUFFET was made in FRANCE , circa 1880 . We purchased it in the Brittany Region of France, just West of Paris.The BUFFET is made of WALNUT . It has a rich, Deep Walnut Patina. This is a FRENCH HENRY II BUFFET. It is in very good condition. This Buffet is the epitome of French refinement. Complete elegance is in every detailed line of the design. At the top is a beautifully moulded Pronounced Pediment. The Frieze below has a Pattern of beautifully formed, Beveled Blocks embellishing it. This Buffet is highly carved and has an architectonic influence in its design. It is a very stately piece of furniture.Pieces such as these were individually commissioned and designed for wealthy families. The entire purpose of this Buffet was to reveal the impeccable taste and wealth of the household for which it was made. The Buffet has beautifully formed, Double Doors at the top of the Buffet.They are made a complex, Spanish Geometric Design of Panels. The Moulding framing the Doors is quite opulent. The Doors open to reveal an interior with Two Long Shelves flowing across it creating ideal storage for you Fine China Settings. The Doors are flanked by Twin Baluster Turned Columns at each side. The Base of the Buffet consists of Two Drawers over Two Doors. The Drawers are carved with an opulent,Geometric Beveled Block Carving. They open to reveal a roomy interior for the storage of your fine silver settings. The Doors below are carved with a splendid, Large Multi-tiered, Raised Diamond Design framed by Triangular Blocks. They are beautifully moulded. The Doors open to reveal an interior with a Shelf at the center. This is perfect for the storage of you additional china and table linens. The Doors are flanked by beautifully Turned, Twin Baluster Turned Columns. The Apron is deeply pronounced and beautifully moulded. The Buffet is supported upon charming Bun Feet. This Buffet retains all of its original hardware. This includes the opulent Hinges, Drop Pulls, Pierced Escutcheon, Lock, and Skeleton Key.
