A beautiful and very large ironstone meat platter with deep blue transfer scenes and desirable well and tree gravy furrow from the early 19th century.English Staffordshire district origin and probably Adams manufacture in the Wild Rose design.Heavy cream coloured ironstone platter of oblong shape with subtly scalloped edge and good depth.Floral transfer border and pastoral lake and cottage scene with fisherman all one in rich dark blue.Finely formed gravy well with eminating tree branch channels.Two molded semi-circular tab feet on the base and the base of the well act as a stand for this handsome piece.Measures just under 19 inches long X 14 inches wide.Affixed with a handmade heavy gauge hanging frame of steel or aluminum designed for permanence but removable.A transfer design typically attributed to Admans and displaying the detailed border,lush scenes and vibrant blue inking familiar to this Potter`s work.Has a magnificent fascade with fine glaze.Some flawing to the rear,including scale patches,a U-shaped shallow hairline to the well base(does not show to the front side)and line along one foot base that may be a clean re-attatchment or not.Marked on the base with circular chain of inked blue dots of Adams make.A very fine example of a beloved pattern in blue and white ironstone of the early 19th century.A very large well and tree meat platter in Wild Rose Staffordshire by Adams.One of the finest and most substantial specimens of it`s type I have come across.Period circa 1830.
