This is a fine example of the Millers Falls No.2 drill that was (and IMHO, still is) "The Favorite Of Mechanics for 40 Years". The No.2 is a strong, serviceable tool with a flat end (called a Chef's cap) on the main handle that rests comfortably against the body for hard drilling. With a three jaw, 3/8ths inch capacity chuck, it has a 4.5 to 1 gear ratio with ball thrust bearings, cut gears a steel pinion and gear stud, adjustable friction roll for equalizing the bearings and a side handle for exceptionally smooth operation. The hardwood handles (3 of them) are likely Cocobolo, but the magnificent dark red finish makes it impossible to be sure. It retains the 7 bits found with it, which likely are not original. All working parts move free and smooth, but I suggest you oil them if you intend to actually use this gorgeous collectible. The wood retains at least 95% of its original finish and only has minor dings on the parts that touch a workbench or drawer. Maybe a splatter spot of paint or two. The metal is rust free, bright and clean and the japanning is original at perhaps 90%. The logo is clear and easy to read. Please take a close look at the sharp pictures to see for yourself whether I have described it correctly. Then, decide what it is worth. Its likely only a new one in the box would be in better shape.
