Up for auction is a lovely round old Chehalis Indian basket with a nicely woven design in a colorful pattern around the perimeter. This basket is in the form of an open bowl woven of tule and beargrass with dyed cedar bark accents. The Modoc tribe historically lived in Washington state, and like many Native American tribes from this area, they had superb basket weavers. This basket has a symmetrical shape and a nicely aged patina. It's a beauty! The basket is a nice medium size, measuring 5½" in diameter at the rim and 2¼" deep. This beautiful basket is in perfect shape, with no breaks, repairs, or any damage (see photos.) This is a lovely example of innovative Native American weaving and will make a beautiful addition to someone's collection of vintage Northwest Indian baskets. I accept Paypal, cashiers checks, money orders, and personal checks, although the shipping on an item will be delayed for the check to clear if a personal check is used. I will be happy to combine multiple purchases for a discounted shipping rate.
