Fine Old Piso Podang Panjang Batak Welcome to my auction , You are looking at a fine condition sword âeoe Podang Panjang âe from Northern Sumatera Region - Indonesia. Piso podang panjang Batak has a very close shape with tulwar from India. As tulwar , piso podang panjang has a quite short hilt, about 13cm. Completely made from brass/bronze, with an inlait on both side of the blade, the hilt has a floral shaped crossguard end tips and a pommel shaped like a cup. A nice patina shown it`s ages and usages. Blade is made from steel , with a single sharp edge on a slightly arcing side. Blade is a bit rusty and have some minor defect as shown on pictures. Come with a nice newer scabbard that make from tropical hardwood, from it`s grain , supposed kayu jati / teak ( Tectona grandis ). Scabbard beautifully carved floral motif and inletted to accept the langets Age : Indonesia archipelago weapons usually made without any date marking , base on the style , motifs and design , this piso podang should be circa late of 19th.
