This is a fine and rare pottery bear baiting jug of which during our research we have been informed it dates from the early 19th century, about c1810-1820 and is of English origin. Wonderful overall decoration with the delightful and quite superb detailing. Has an overall height of about 9inches with a max dia inc handle of about 7inches. Collar to neck with the portrayal of the bear holding an empty bowl. Turned handle at the end with the design of the late 18th early 19th century. No markings. Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition is excellent with no major blemishes except a minor chip to the neck at the rear as per pictures. Besides being a very collectable English bear baiting jug of quality from the early 19th century, would also look fabulous displayed.
