FINE STERLING AMETHYST PRESSED GLASS PERFUME BOTTLE
Presented for sale is a very pretty sterling and amethyst pressed glass perfume bottle, flask, or flacon. This piece was manufactured in the United States between the late 1800s and the early 1900s. The six sided convex paneled bottle is tapered at the top and bottom and bows out at the center. Each panel features a flower and spray design. The hinged, sterling lid of the bottle has a beaded edge and is centered with an amethyst cabochon. The outside and interior of the lid has traces of gold vermeil which has largely worn off over time. T is a glass stopper which fits perfectly and a sterling ring through which a sterling chain or silk cord could be threaded. The collar of the bottle is stamped Sterling. We do not know who the maker of the sterling is. The glass was probably made by Hawks or one of several other high-quality American glass manufacturers., The bottle is in excellent condition. The lid is secure and tight. The hinge mechanism works well. T are no breaks, no chips, no cracks, no dents, no repairs, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no problems. The bottle is 3 inches tall.
