HERIZ District is a collection of villages in the close proximity of Tabriz in northwestern Iran. The district lies close to the magnificent Sabalan Peak at the southern tip of Caucasian mountains. Heriz rugs are very durable due to use of strong wool, thick pile and compact weave. The wool is lustrous, push and very strong. The dyestuffs mostly are vegetable based which results in beautiful and clear shades. Their colors are well balanced and harmonic. HERIZ rugs respond particularly well when placed on wood flooring or in the proximity of wooden objects such as antiques or primitive art. It is also well suited for modern decor. All Heriz rugs are artfully drawn and masterfully executed. Featured is a beautiful 70-80 years old Heriz with a rare medallion and border treatment making this rug unique in the Heriz marketplace. The exact size is13'0" x 9'8" . Complete and original with fully saturated vegetable dyes, 100% medium even pile of the softest wool quality on cotton foundation, showing minimal wear, attesting to the quality hard wearing wool used in these rugs. This rug has reached the point w the wool and color have gained the patina of age and the rug has entered its most attractive phase which it should maintain for many years. The serapi blue , so famous and highly sought after by collectors and decorators, is strong and vibrant, and has not gone to gray or silver as happens on many older Heriz. This rug has no stiffness, repairs, holes or color run. T is minor moth bites to one end, hardly worth used a photo slot for, but it is t for you to see. T are no low spots or traffic areas just wonderful medium even pile all over. It will benefit from a good cleaning. Check my buyer feedback and bid with confidence on this fine piece of Persian art.
