This is a set of tooling designed to produce 1 lb (3/4" id) rough mixed black powder fueled nozzled rocket motors. It was produced by Firesmith Pyro tools. The spindle is made from brass and is of slightly different dimensions than traditional black powder rocket motor spindles - the spindle is a bit shorter and the base of the spindle flares out to produce a DeLeval inspired nozzle to help produce more thrust when using the tooling to produce nozzled motors. I never used it to produce nozzled motors so there's absolutely no galling or wear on the spindle at all (see the photo of the spindle base). I found this tooling poduced EXCELLENT nozzless motors using hot ball milled black powder or commercial fine grained black powder. I always J hooked fuse into the core to ignite the motors and that was very easy due to the extra room provided by the flared end of the spindle. The shorter spindle made loadingthe last few fuel increments very easy too.This set can also be used to produce great whistle and strobe rockets. � It includes a universal base, removable spindle, four rammers and a stainless puller. � The rammers are marked with no-pass and swap lines.
