Hello & Welcome To Medieval Womans Auctions I'm very pleased to offer this gorgeous Empire Colonial comport in firely opalescent blue! This is really a wow piece and I consider myself lucky to have had it. The comport was made by Curling Robertson or Fort Pitt glass of Pittsburgh (the only company known to have made this pattern) and as we all know opalescent pieces do not turn up very often! This piece is unusual in the fact that when it was made the inside of the bowl was completely covered in gold! It has worn thin now and I wouldn't dream of removing it as it shows a history of which we know nothing. Condition is close to perfect with no chips on the bowl or the foot. T is one flat chip on the stem that is visible on the last picture. The piece measures 5" tall and 8" across and is a bit slumped which is not unusual for pieces made in the 1860 time frame. If you collect the Colonial pattern I'm sure you will want this unusual piece for your collection! Any questions or need more pictures please email me and I'll be glad to send them to you! Shipping is determined at the end of auction by the high bidders zip. Payment is expected within 10 days of end of auction. Paypal only for international bidders please! No personal checks accepted, money orders OK. Please do not bid if you do not intend to pay. No Personal Checks Please! All items (unless stated) are vintage/antique and sold as is and may have scratches or wear marks/will not be perfect. I try to describe all wear patterns to the best of my ability. All questions will be answered in a reasonable amount of time.
