Souvenir Program me (second edition) for the First All India Cricket Tour of England 1932, comprising Fixtures, Photographs and Records of India and England Players. This was known as the First All India tour because it included the first ever Test match played by India against England, at Lords. The only previous tour of England by an Indian team, in 1911, had played against county teams only and not against the English national team. ~~~~~~ 32 page, soft cover booklet, measuring 5" x 8 1/2". In very good condition for its age - the top edge of the front cover and a small area around the lower staple have discoloured slightly and the staples have rusted inside on the centre pages (but not on the outside), but the binding is still firm. This has never been in general circulation and has, until recently, been stored untouched in a locked trunk since 1935. The Programme contains photos and brief playing details of the Indian team members, under their captain H.H. The Maharaja of Porbandar and of their England opponents, as well as a few other well known Indian and English players (KS Duleepsinjhi, The Nawab of Pataudi, H.H. The Maharaja of Nawangar, Jardine, Sutcliffe and Hobbs), plus 2 photos of Lords and Bombay Cricket Grounds. Preface by the Editor, AW Simpson; foreword by PF Warner, Editor of The Cricketer; fixture list; facts read more
