First China War Medal (1842) correctly impressed to "* * * FRANCIS BAILEY, ROYAL MARINES. * * * *" A copy of the summary of his service (included) shows that before he joined up in 1841 at the age of 23, Francis Bailey was a Groom who lived in Chiddington, near Beaminster in Dorset and that he was discharged with rheumatism and a lame ankle in 1846. This is a fairly rare and nicely impressed medal to the Royal Marines and is one of several out of my collection that I am selling (unfortunately) to help pay the bills, so please see my other items.
