Followed by Contents of Vol.I & Directions re The Plates. Text pages: 1-488. Followed by two unpaginated Notes of A.H. Stevens, one of the surgeons of the New-York Hospital . Illustrated with engraved plates. 7 are listed but no VII is missing. There are also 4 figures in text. Numerous footnotes. Leather binding, gilt title etc on spine. Measures approx. 3.5 inches x 8.75 inches x 1.5 inches thick. Covers poor, very worn, leather flaking, losses to spine which is darkened - evidence of scorch? Closed page edges browned & foxed. Old linen reinforcement to both hinges. Pencil note on the Notice page: Oct. 1960 Repaired (Heckman) 2.71 . Library plate on front paste down: Archibald Church Library Northwestern University Medical School , and handwritten Gift of Dr. Thomas W. Murrell .
