I will be listing many incredible vintage design items over the next week so be sure to add me to your favorite sellers list and check my other auctions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SET OF FIVE LOUIS STYLE Ballon or Oval back side chairs to add to any fabulous decorator interior. This style of chair is a gold standard, a staple if you will, of great design which is why this form has survived and thrived for over 3 hundred years in the hall of interior design - just open Architectural Digest or Home and Garden and you will likely see one of these chairs in one of their features in any given issue. Practically every furniture company or designer in the world has at one time done an incantation of this chair: Even one of the world's premiere modern designers, Phillipe Starck, has reinvented it in clear lucite as the 'Ghost Chair' and it is gorgeous . Now, these are more of the traditional shape and at present are painted pale green and upholstered in a coral antique velvet. The fabric on the seats is in pretty good condition though a couple have faded some, but the upholstery at the back is tearing and needs to be redone. They're very sturdy but do show signs of wear from use. In a shabby chic environment, these would work, but I recommend a makeover to bring them up to fabulous. They could be either stripped and left bare (a look I totally love when combined with linen or another antique style velvet) or lacquered (even gilt) and reupholstered in whatever fabric suits you. You can buy amazing high end fabrics like Clarence House, Brunschwig or Scalamandre and many others on eBay for a fraction of what they would cost in their to-the-trade-only showrooms, and upholstering these babies shouldn't cost much. Well worth it to have a lovely set of what would cost you more than a couple of thousand in a high end shop, through a designer, or on 1stdibs - type in Louis and you'll see I'm right. The last two photos are examples of Louis style oval back chairs - the set on the right are $4500 and the set on the left around 2k - but more importantly, I show them so you can get an idea of what these could look like redone. They could be really fantastic and I have no reserve so happy bidding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T FORGET TO CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS AS i'M ADDING FABULOUS DESIGN ITEMS DAILY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Measures: 19"w, 18" d, 36"h, seat 18"h These will need to be shipped by Greyhound and will have to go in three boxes ( 2 stacked in 2 boxes, one goes solo) for $140 for all. They can also be delivered to the USC or UCLA campus during weekdays for $35 w you can then pick them up. Or you can pick them up in Newport Beach for free !
