FLAG DAY Philadelphia Revolutionary War 1777 Newspaper is a complete, genuine historic newspaper with the following title, date and description: THE PENNSYLVANIA EVENING POST, Philadelphia PA, June 14, 1777 * Printed on the first flag day * Revolutionary war original reading It was on this very day that Congress adopted the flag of the United States, and today the day is celebrated throughout the United States as Flag Day (not reported of course). The entire front page is taken up with the business of the Pennsylvania Assembly, continuing to take half of page 2. Page 3 has an item reading: "A gentleman who left Trenton...says that he heard a heavy firing from which it is supposed some of the advanced parties have engaged." Also included is a petition from the Board of War for Penna. which states, in part "...united in vigorous measures for defending and securing their country and for repelling the common enemy..." and more. Also on page 3 are various details prefaced with: "The House resumed the consideration of the report of the Committee appointed to frame a draught of resolves respecting the removal of the inhabitants of Phila. in case the movements of the enemy's army should make such a measures necessary..." The back page has a lengthy poem, plus few ads, including one for a soldier who deserted from the "Dickinson armed boat".
