History and Details:

I purchased this item in Florida in 1992 at a gift shop to add to my clown collection. I don't remember the town, I was on vacation. When I first purchased it, he sat on a shelf. In 1993 it was put in a curio cabinet. Occasionally, (once every 3 or 4 YEARS) I circulate my clowns from storage into the curio cabinet. So, he has spent some time in the closet, in his box over the years. The original tags are still attached exactly as they came around the base.

One of the tags reads " I do a lot of thinking about my other self the little hobo.... and so help me. I'm beginning to like the little guy better than I like myself! and... I kinda hope he feels the same way about me." Emmett Kelly. The back of the card reads: Your Emmett Kelly Jr. Collectible is excellence in fine cold-cast porcelain achieved by artisans applying their ancient craft heritage. It is distinguished by qualities prized by collectors for investment value. Cherish it among your keepsakes.

This clown is probably the favorite of my collection that I have purchased myself. It has been cherished. The only age this piece shows is the tags have a few spots on them and the globe gets "foggy" when the snow is disbursed. It takes a while for the "fog" to settle. I suppose this is deterioration of the "snow". Since this is the only globe I have that is near this age I have no others to compare it to so I do not know if this is normal. This Emmett Kelly piece would be a great addition to anyone's collection! And, apparently hard to come by! I was not able to find another one for sale anyw to find what the market would bear on price!
