Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key and Original Divided Tray is a clean refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. All wooden surfaces have been sanded and finished with three brush coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The metal components, which are not brass, have been painted in a nice black and gold pattern. The original lock was missing, so we have put a reproduction lock on this trunk. The reproduction lock does work and comes with a key. The side handles were gone and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. This trunk is considered a flat top, although t is a slight arch to the top which can be seen in the close up picture of the trunk's side. You might look around your home and find a wonderful place for this early American trunk. are the trunk's measurements: from left to right across the front is 28 1/4 inches, from floor to top is 20 1/4 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 inches. They work well to store collectibles or clothing within. We have had past customers use similar trunks to display their teddy bear or doll collection on and within the trunk with the lid in the open position.
