Nice Restored Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock & Key and Tray is a restored pine flat top steamer trunk with signed original working lock with antique key. It is signed, "Yale & Towne Mfg Co Stamford Conn U.S.A.". It is a true flat top with no arch and could work nicely as a coffee table in front of your sofa or sectional sofa. You might have a piece of glass cut to rest across the top if you want a lot of usable surface area. This trunk would also make a nice chest within the bedroom or possibly near the bedroom to store blankets or clothing within. This trunk dates around 1900 or so and consists of pine base wood and ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three brush coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has a nice color. It is a tannish light brown and t are some character marks on the wood. These markings include some older nicks and scrapes and some typical stress cracks. The majority of the trunks that we restore have stress cracks on the wood. The metal components are not brass and have been hand painted in a nice black and gold pattern. are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches, from floor to top is 21 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches.
