Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Original Brown Banding with Pin Striping, Straps & Buckles, Working Lock & Key, and Tray What a fabulous refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 we have ! This one is made up of poplar base wood and oak or ash outer slat boards. It has a wonderful array of nice fancy metal hardware, none of which is brass. So, we have painted all the metal by hand in a gold and black pattern. This lovely trunk has the original factory brown banding intact with the factory black pin striping still present. The wood has been finished wit three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. T are some stress cracks in the wood and other character marks which include older nicks and dings, mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. T are also some old tacks on the top at the center. These were w destination tags were tacked onto this trunk when transported on the railways. A nice feature on this trunk is the working lock with key. Now you can store your personal belongings away from others under lock and key. This is a true flat top trunk with no arch and could be used many different ways in your home. are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 37 inches, from floor to top is 22 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. When packaged, this trunk will fall into UPS's 'Oversize 3' category(OS3). For this trunk to be sent within Pennsylvania, it would cost over $120.00 and to California around $150.00. This one has black leather straps with roller buckles run full length in the same position the original ones once did. It also has black leather straps for handles. We acquire all of our leather for restoring these trunks from an Amish man in an Amish community in Pennsylvania. The interior of the trunk has had the paper all removed and a tray has been made for this trunk. The tray and interior wood have received clearcoat. T is a stress crack going across the bottom on the interior board. A nice trunk maker's style picture is fastened to the underside of the top portraying people riding away from a mansion in a horse drawn cart. Going to the exterior bottom, because of the stress crack on the inside, we have put a wide board across the center just to ensure lots of strength. The bottom has the four factory metal casters still in place and we have finished the bottom of this trunk. Buy this one for yourself or for someone you care about.
