Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps & Buckles, Working Lock With Key, and Original Divided Tray is a nice refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. We will call it a flat top, although t is a slight arch to the top which is noticeable in the close up side view picture. This trunk consists of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The exterior wood is in pretty good condition and doesn't have too many distress marks. The wood is in it's natural color, or patina. It is a little bit difficult to read the signature although it is t We have matched up a key that DOES activate the lock mechanism. The metal components on this trunk are not brass, and tfore have been painted in a nice black and gold paint scheme. This trunk originally had straps which have probably eroded away many decades ago. They help secure the trunk's top to it's base in addition to the front latches and lock. This could be used as a coffee table or storage chest read more
