This is a tinplate windup toy submarine / sub made by Gebruder Fleischmann of Germany in the 1920s . In wonderful working (completely original) condition - the clockwork winds and works but the mechanism stem is off-center looking down through the wind cap.. Measures approximately 8.5" long. Marked "Germany" on bottom weight. Sorry no key. Winning bidder to pay shipping and insurance. Payment by PayPal only. Thanks for looking and ! Please take a look at my other auctions. If you enjoy toy boat s such as the early German dreadnaught makers Marklin Bing and Carette please pickup a copy of TOY BOATS by Robert Forbes or "The Allure of Toy Ships" by Dick Claus. In the book you’ll see the Orkin Craft battleship and Radiguet ocean liner plus Fleischmann tinplate submarine with clockwork mechanism. Also pictured are Weeden Bliss and Falk tin windup boats from the early 1900s. Don’t forget JEP Ives and Bliss. They were also very prominent as was George Brown. Ernst Plank and Arnold also made gunboat s of superb quality some with live steam and some with windup propulsion. Whatever your interest, this is a great place to start.
