Straight forward bidders with good feedback are always welcome. No Paypal; For your consideration; Original WWII A2 Flight jacket made by Aero Leather clothing company, Beacon, NY. This original flight jacket is a large size 44". This jacket exhibits the signature Berry color knit waistband & cuffs often associated with this maker. Knit although faded looks to be the original & has a few moth holes & t although I notice the cuffs are not the sxact same color one is more faded than the other. Aero lable is present but is hard to read & is very fragile looking. AN Inspectors stamp is present & visible in lining as is a large winged star with Army Air forces below. Zipper is crown & is in good working order. No breaks or separations that I could find & runs freely over its entire length. Lining is relatively clean for age. Only minor evidence of removed insignia exists. Captain's painted bars although faint are still visible. Some feint stitch marking also on the lining inside. But not visible on the outside leather. Just received an e-mail that sggested that this might have been anoverdye thru an AAF depot. All I can say is I have no idea it does not appear to have been re-dyed & the zipper lloks to have not been changed so I cannot tell & the jacket came with no history. Typical for Aero jackets is the amazing leather color , texture & patina to the horsehide leather which is still soft & pliable. It has a rich mahogany base color that with wear & use shows through the dark seal brown outer color . This fantastic leather finish/coloration is the result of years of wear & use.Although the jacket could do with a good conditioning.I will leave this to the new custodian as t are many points of view on this.! This jacket once had a field added Mouton fur collar that was removed a long time ago the tell tale stitch marks are still visible; the plus to this field addition is that the collar is barely showing any wear, cracking or discoloring. Usually this is a place that often exhibits discoloration & cracking on the fold line. This field modification is quite often encountered & makes perfect sense if one keeps in mind cold British weather & cold leather jackets against skin. This great jacket exhibits typical wartime wear- it is in solid condition & could easily be worn of that is the new owners intention. Jacket measures; Chest- Armpit to armpit across front...24" Shoulders-at top of back...19"...... Arm length- from end of epaulette to end of cuff...24-1/2" Overrall length of jacket- top of collar to bottom of waistband...27- 3/4". Epaulette length ....6-1/2" Best of luck...jackets in this larger size are getting hard to find. E-mail if you need more pictures!
