Flip the Frog (MGM, 1930). One Sheet (27 X 41 ). Created and illustrated by the legendary Ub Iwerks, Flip the Frog was MGM s first sound cartoon character. The series premiered on August 16, 1930 with a film entitled Fiddlesticks and continued for 38 episodes, ending in 1933. Fiddlesticks, utilized the Two-Color Technicolor process, becoming the first color sound cartoon ever made. The rest of the Flip series, except for Techno-Cracked (1933), were made in black and white. Flip went through a metamorphosis as the series progressed; he became less frog-like and took on more human characteristics. Offered here is an extremely scarce and coveted stock poster that features Flip the Frog as he originally appeared at the beginning of the series. There is light fold line wear with separations at the crossfolds, border nicks and tears, pinholes, and one 5-inch tear at the bottom. The poster has been professionally restored, rendering these defects hard to detect. Very Fine+ on Linen.
