This is an original oil painting by Florida Highwaymen artist Al Black. Signed in lower right corner "A Black 75".Large painting of a beautiful sunset over water accented by palm trees, foliage, a dock and birds. Board measures 24"h X 36"w , framed painting measures 25 3/4"h X 38"w.Painting is oil on upson board in the original frame which is gold colored paint on wooden crown molding (these were the normal materials used by the Highwaymen).Al Black is one of the 9 original Highwaymen artists of the 26 Highwaymen who were inducted into the Florida Artist's Hall of Fame in 2004.This painting displays the signature elements present in Al Black's art that are the best way to identify an Al Black painting. The elements consist of 3 birds to signify The Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Ghost and a bird out of formation representing Al Black's fall from grace.Few flaws noted include slight area of paint loss in the sky to the right of the third palm tree, a dark smudge on the right upper edge of sky (not sure if its a flaw, just looks out of place) and the frame is missing a screw which makes it slightly loose in that area - an easy fix. As this is the original frame, there are some dings and dents which may be the way it has always looked. I've never examined it this closely and it's been kept in storage.Please see pictures.
