This pamphlet for auction, a "SPECIAL EDITION" of "FLORIDA'S FINANCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL RECORD" from January 8, 1910, is very interesting and regales the trials & tribulations and dreams & schemes of some early Tampa Real Estate developers. Specifically, Tampa Real Estate developers Hendry and Knight and the business called the Tampa Bay Land Company. This booklet/pamphlet is rather large. It is 10 by 13 3/4 inches and contains 24 printed pages. It is in really good condition with only the front and back covers having just a touch of barely visible foxing. T are a couple small tears on the front cover (the largest is 1/2 of an inch) & on a couple interior pages (the largest is 1/4 of an inch). No ink or pencil on any page. This booklet contains printed photos of early Tampa including one panoramic "View of South Tampa Gardens Taken From the Turrets of the Tampa Bay Hotel". This booklet is written and presented as a newspaper, with advertisements and articles and photos, only the articles contained tin are not bylined. The ads are related to: whiskies, beer & spirits, hotels, machinery, medicine, jewelry, lumber, naval stores, banks, agriculture, and whatever other advertisers that the Florida's Financial and Industrial Record could garner with it's quote "An Unvarnished Tale of Florida as it is" . The articles include a multi-page write-up about South Tampa Colony (this must have been a big real estate failure) with the exact cost to truck growers to buy lots --gives the land cost and agricultural cost to plant cabbage, cucumbers and onions in this part of Florida. Another full-page article features Highland Estates in Jacksonville. Another full-page article features the headline "TAMPA'S PANAMA CANAL CELEBRATION WILL BE EDUCATIONAL AND ENTERTAINING, / Nearest Port In United States With Railroad Transportation Facilities To The Big Ditch / So Recognized By Congress / Program For Two Weeks Of Jollification Interspersed With National Conventions. - Great Statesmen And Diplomats Will Attend - Airships And Other Races To Be Features". This article leads into another entitled "FACTS ABOUT THE CITY OF TAMPA" in which one will learn, among other facts, that 250,690,000 Havana cigars were made in Tampa in 1909. Another 2 page bracketed article compares the houses on Bayshore Blvd. (on the west side of Hillsborough Bay) to the houses to be build on 20 acre parcels in South Tampa Gardens (on the east side of Hillsborough Bay). Another full page article is entitled "Florida Farms and Gardens" and features how to raise hens in Florida, among other articles. Another full page shows the surveyed "TOWNSITE" called Keystone Park in Tampa. At the time this survey was printed (1910), t were only a couple lots sold in Keystone Park. If I remember correctly, Keystone Park is located just north of Hillsborough Avenue and just east of 40th Street.
