Hi, I'm Hew. I have enjoyed collecting flow blue, polychrome and transferware since 1970. Alas, it is now necessary for me to simplify life, downsize and make a portion of my collection available to others. I have also placed several pieces in my antique shop booth. My first preference is to sell to my fellow eBayers, so please let me know ASAP if I need to retrieve this piece for you. Cheers! This is a wonderful, colorful and venerable oriental scene polychrome transfer Staffordshire stoneware plate made originally by Masons until about 1855, then by F. Morley & Co (1845-58), by Morley & Ashworth (1858-1862), and subsequently, as in this c1860s plate, Ashworth Bros. This plate is 9 1/2" in diameter. The marvelous pattern, not identified, is an oriental motif, containing classic chinoiserie elements. Morley was the pottery that later assumed and continued the manufacture of Masons Ironstone China from ~1855 to 1862. Ashworth Bros assumed the manufacture ~1862, hence the "Real Ironstone China" marking on the back of the plate. The polychromed flow blue transfer and contrast nicely against the white background. T is a myriad of colors applied including green, blue green, burnt orange, reddish pink, mustard, peach and yellow. On the back of the plate is the printed coat of arms, the painted pattern number 4271, and impressed "ASHWORTH" and "REAL IRONSTONE CHINA". Please see Item number 280068160215 also. This plate is in great condition, free of crazing, cracks, chips, flakes and repairs, and has some almost indiscernible utensil marking. The polychroming is nearly completely intact . The dish exhibits a healthy and solid ring when tapped. I have found this piece to be especially versatile and to display nicely. I have a second identical plate making for a handsome display pair. In order to keep prices reasonable, I present these listings in a no frills manner. I also avoid playing with Reserve pricing. I strive to set a price that is fair, and to state clear and reasonable shipping costs. Shipping (basic, U.S.) for this substantial plate will not exceed $7.50. I always pack carefully, however, insurance is always a good idea, and I will add this unless requested not to. Items can be combined for further savings on shipping. I accept Please use the above links if I can answer any questions or if you would like to view my other available items. Thank you for looking, enjoy eBaying, and good luck!
