Last forward compartment Insulated Silicone Elastomer Gasket to be offered for sale Due to Source Piece Condition. Flown Artifact From the Jerald B. Wilken Space Collection, Limited Edition of 10. APOLLO 8 Insulated Silicone Elastormer Gasket Display Includes: Cut section of gasket 1/8" thick x 1 1/4" x 2" Approximitely from Command Module CM/103 the first manned spacecraft to orbit the moon in custom acrylic display 4" X 6" X 11/16" Thick. Insulated Silicone Elastomer Gasket: Installed between the Command Module heat shield and Crew Compartment interface gaps. This was a part of the Thermal Protection System (TPS). The interior consists of cellulose Insulation, a strip of woven fiberglass, aluminum thermal foil hand wrapped with 1 inch woven fiber and Silicone tape, and partially covered with RTV 511 Silicon, then molded to the joint with RTV 560 Certification of Authenticity from the Wilken family will accompany item. #-08 Flown Artifacts are guaranteed genuine and collected by Jerald B. Wilken and offered by the Wilken Family. Jerry Wilken worked for Space Division of NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. Starting in 1962 as an Associate Test Engineer and from 1967 to 1969 was assigned as test conductor for Apollo Post Flight Operations.
