The Weardale District was the area that gave this mineral it's name fluorite. It is the best fluorescing fluorite in the world. It will even fluoresce in ordinary sunlight as the last picture shows. It will fluoresce under both short wave and long wave UV but is best under long wave. Long wave is the blacklight that you can buy at stores like K-Mart, Wal mart, Spencer Gifts etc. for posters.
