Up for your consideration, a BUTTERFLY, carved in the traditional Eskimo style, from beautiful, Alaska WALRUS ivory. The radiant tones come from a long soaking in blue and black dye. The base is a polished ALASKAN WALRUS IVORY CHUNK. Many thanks to Randy for his help in obtaining the correct dyes. The span of the wings is 2 inches. The body is carved from fossil walrus ivory. The eyes are monoblock carved , in place, and the feelers are black, annodized wire. I had to stop using the baleen hair, as, they were brittle and tended to break.
