FOR AUCTION, AT NO RESERVE! These are one pair of WWII U.S. Air Forces flying boots.
Marked: OVERSHOE, FLYING, HEAVY, TYPE A-1, SPECIFICATIONS MIL-0-6540, SIZE.........MENS XXXL 12-13, STOCK NO. AF -731, ORDER NO. AF-8305, BRISTOLITE, U.S. PROPERTY These boots are in excellent original condition! You will not find a nicer pair without a time-machine! If these boots have been worn - it could only have been once! The insides are clean-clean-clean (photos) The boot's tongues are soft and supple as the day they were made. The straps are complete with guards, and are very pliable after all these years. The sheepskin uppers of the boots retain their brown outer finish, and the wing and star decals are complete. Of course all the leathers could use an application of a nourishing treatment like Lexol, especially if they are to be worn, but I will leave that to the discretion of the buyer. There is no damage to note. The black rubber soles and uppers are pliable, and the soles show almost no sign of wear. I did notice however that the rubber on the upper shows hairline checking when being flexed - much like a vintage tire sidewall does. All hardware is complete, the buckles retain their black finish with almost no rusting at all (photos). The zippers are marked CROWN, and fully working - no corrosion or issues at all! The pull tabs are spring loaded to automatically flip in the down locked position, like the flight jackets of the period. They were found in a green canvas bag, that I am guessing is the way in which they wear originally issued. The bag has some light wear and staining -- but undoubtedly contributed to the wonderful condition of the boots themselves after so many many years. The bag is marked with what is likely the original flyer's name in 3/8 black stencil - "L/COL. BURCKY". As I mentioned, if the Colonel wore these - it could only have been once - as the soles show no wear. And I found an "extra" strap guard inside one of the boots! (photo) It is finds like this that have me so thankful for our moderate California climate, and the proliferate air bases that covered the West Coast during the world's greatest conflict. It is inspiring to see history survive in this condition -- and my hope that they will treasured by their new collector owners. I sold a pair of boots similar to these recently - and was surprised they didn't sell for more. But I am committed to selling off things I no longer have use for -- so here goes! This is likely your last chance to own a pair of these boots in such incredible condition. I gladly combine items to save you shipping - and encourage you to check my other listings often to see if there is something else that interests you. Shipping charges will be the ACTUAL COSTS OF SHIPPING ONLY - NO ADDITIONAL FEES ADDED. Please do not hesitate to ask questions -- and the best of luck in the bidding! GOD BLESS AND KEEP THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND HER ALLIES, THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED, AND THOSE WHO SERVE HER TODAY. Greetings! I carefully boxed the boots - and can comfortably say that they are ready to travel safely around the world! The ebay shipping calculator can be very off sometimes, and after a request or two, I went to the Post Office to get some better idea of the actual rates we can expect. U.S. Post to Los Angeles area (West Coast) -- Priority Mail - $15.00 / Parcel Post $11.24
