Wow; here's an incredibly rare find: an authentic WWII Flying Tigers CBI Flight Jacket--Hell's Angels Squadron. You now the history; you know how rare this jacket is. Original Willis and Geiger M422A --in my research , I found that jackets from this contract were sent to the Flying Tigers in a substantial number. The name tag, as you can see, has been removed. The squadron painting on the chest is 100% original to the jacket and has not been altered in any way. It has faded, but this certainly helps authenticate the jacket; one with this much wear should be faded, not pristine like a repro. The "white" paint is in keeping with the tones of the period: white paint in this time period lacked the vibrancy of today's whites. You can see the outline of wings and the halo; this portion has faded the most. But what a beautiful original image! The jacket's condition, as you can see, is worn; it has been through, well, war! The most extensive wear is on the shoulders, which, according to my research again helps authenticate this jacket since the parachute straps were know to cause this type of exaggerated wear. This area has been professionally repaired due to a poor job on a previously done repair. The jacket seams are solid; the shoulders are flaking a bit but are stable. Several coats of Pecard's leather dressing have been applied. The cuffs are missing; the waist band has some holes, one larger one. The lining has some holes and soiling. The zipper may be a replacement( Serval ). Pocket buttons are missing. The mouton portion of the collar has been replaced--it was totally bald before. Yes, there are issues, but the jacket itself is secondary to the art, of course. Armpit to armpit is 21"; shoulder seam to cuff is 22"; shoulder seam to seam is 18." No phony blood chits or added CBI patches: only 100% honest wear and tear and original nose art. Payment by PayPal only due upon invoice. Please do not bid if you cannot pay. Extra shipping for outside lower 48 US States. Shipping to Japan is $45. No refunds unless item is misrepresented. NOTE: I was contacted by an ebayer who believes this may be from the 14th Air Force, which came after the AVG. Either way, the art work is guaranteed to be authentic from the WWII period.
