Focke-Wulf Fw200-C Kondor Engine Baffle A cylinder baffle off a BMW/Bramo 323R engine from Focke-Wulf Fw200-C (WkNr0015?), FH+KH of KG40, which force landed on Mt Brandon, Kerry, Eire, after flying out from its base at Bordeaux-Merignac, France, 20th August, 1940 Made from an aluminium alloy, it shows whitness marks from the impact of the cylinder barrel fins, a dent near the top and some heat staining due to the fact that the crew set fire to the aircraft (as per orders in such a situation) after crashing. There is also a small stamp (E.L.) impressed on the inside. Two small rivets also indicate where a data plate was once affixed. The condition is remakably good considering it has lain exposed to the Atlantic for some 66 years. I found this and a few other components on Mt Brandon whilst on a hang gliding trip during 1996. The hotel we stayed at had the tailwheel in the bar and an engine in the carpark! All the crew survived the incident and were later interned, one of whom stayed on after the war, married and then had a son who went on to fly for Aer Lingus (so the hotel owner told me!) Possibly the only opportunity you'll ever have to own a piece of this rare aircraft type from a well documented incident. Sensible start price (£9.99) See pics for details (the first pic is of the actual aircraft).Postage first class recorded read more
