The author is a working railwayman who since 1966 has been based at Carnforth. As such he has been closely involved with the preserved locomotives housed at Steamtown, and indeed it is his experiences of firing several of them on steam specials that form some of the most compelling reading. Yet there is more more to this as the author writes of his earlier career as a cleaner and then a fireman at Lancaster Green Ayre engine sheds, and of the many changes he has seen at Carnforth in a period that has embraced steam, diesel and electric traction. Card-covers publsihed in 1984 by Dalesman. Please see photo two for contents pages. 72 pages thick with approx 25 black and white photos and a plan of Lancaster Green Ayre Station. Very good to good condition.
