In 1946 Ford Motor Company Limited commissioned Terence Cuneo to record on canvas 6 images featuring post war Dagenham vehicle production. Four of these are available as quality prints. Print 'A' â� “ â� œThe Dagenham Jettyâ�  - October 1946 , numbered limited edition - 230 / 1200 Featuring Fordson Major E27N tractors and Ford Prefect E93A cars ready for export. Notice the Ford steam locomotive, one of two that were at Dagenham Plant when I joined Ford in 1960. The Thames foundry, blast furnace, power station and Ford Motor Company UK headquarters offices are seen in the background. Vehicles were often loaded into barges and then transferred to large merchant ships in deeper water. The Jetty was 1800ft long and capable of handling ships up to 10,500 tons. The Ford Dagenham Plant covered 66 acres and opened in November 1931 under the management of Sir Roland Smith. Fordson Tractor production started at Dagenham in the last half of 1932 having moved from Cork in Ireland .
