ford zephyr straight 6, 1954, nearly 60 y/o. mot sept and tax may, 2 owners, last owner mot/garage, he bought this 15 years ago. the car was then restored, on the classic car scale it's now an 8 out of 10. new wings at the time, there is a box full of spares, carb, drop links, steering column. new brake shoes, chrome trim, etc, this is a 1954 car, like 10 years later, ie 1964. the photo's look good, taken as the car is, not from the best angle, will now need light refurb, obviously. i looked at 2 garage classic zephyrs last week, 10k and 7.999k, no better than this, both sold, the 10k is undergoing a basic resto. these zephyrs are getting rare, not as many as there are jags, rovers, etc. no mod cons, no pas, 3 speed, no syncro in first, easy on 2nd and 3rd. i drove loads of 1970s column change cars, the older by 20 years, take 30 mins to get used to, but real driving. 82 mph, 22 mpg. these are only used at shows etc, but it is a good running car, tiny single carb. i found out these are the most poular cars in n/z and aus. usually customised or upgraded with later engines, gearboxes, brakes, whatever. i have been honest about the description, i insist any potentual buyer looks before bidding, no obligation to buy, look round on your own, no pressure by me. i know what i want for this car. if it helps, i will take cash, and a non running rover p5b coupe 3.5, citroen ds, ds 23, jag 3.8, even an "original 6 branch untouched zephyr zodiac, 1950s" in order to help out, i will allow a good price on any non runner. red and white leather seats, and door trims, need leather softener, swabs for these are avaliable if wanted. despite being 1954, the car interior and body, are very retro, sort of art deco? if anyone has an echo, or pye, original radio, i will buy it, "i might have bought an original 1954 ecko radio" has the roof clock, and cigar lighter, a modern car radio/tape, i should have bought the original echo radio, if it's good. ps: the car is listed on 2 classic car mags, i reserve the right to sell on them. a deposit of £300 into my bank if it sells, as soon as the hammer goes down, as it were. do not pay into paypal, they cost me an 8k sale 4 years ago, i would not have an account with them, if my life depended on it, thanks. ebay's new listing rules mean you have to offer your car for at least 40% less than you want, crazy, or start at a quid, ?????????????? update: i have just been offered my favourite classic car, i had to make up a price, in order to list, massive price drop, now £5,500 tony on 9,2, j10, m4. this car can be driven home. note: at the risk of being sarcastic, it is my opinion the seller makes the rules, ie how any deal is to be done. i stated any bidders must look at the car before making an armchair offer, i insist on this. "none of the bidders has bothered to follow my instructions" i even had a guy turn up and offer a bit less, after dropping the price by 3,000k. at the risk of losing any sale, a non refundable £300 deposit, must be paid into my bank immediatly, if you win, then if you don't buy it's your loss. i will not be told the cash will be paid in full when you get here, if you bid and don't look, you have bought this car blind. i have had offers from people passing my house, so i will have no problem selling the car. once again if you are interested come and look round the car, take as long as you like, take it for a run, and on your own. ebay should enforce these rules, with a £500 deposit from all members on joining, £400 of the deposit should go to the let down seller, £100 for ebay's admin. email from a mate of the guy who restored this car, i deleted his id so i don't break any ebay rules.
