DESCRIPTION: I am offering this beautiful fully engraved Tribute to Fort Pitt and the French & Indian War Powder Horn. On the main side is a Plan of Fort Pitt and a typically uniformed Soldier. On the back side t is a harbor scape of New York, underneath t is a raging hand to hand combat beteen an Indian and one of Roger's Rangers. The area the war was fought was heavy with trees and mountains. So I put in plenty of mountains and trees to make them feel at home. It has been perfectly antiqued to assimilate the patina of the 18th century powder horns. It has a brass removable plug for easy filling. The bottom has a wood removable plug. This powder horn is a large 14 1/2" long. The strap is a 3/8" leather strap. The Scrimshaw is colored with waterproof india ink. Finally hand rubbed with six coats of paste wax. We are more then aware that we would all like to own a real 18th century powder horn, however for most of us (including me) the cost of one is out of reach. I decided a long time ago that I was not going to do 18th century reproductions, but to give you some original artwork and yet keep it in the correct period theme, art work that you can enjoy every time you look at it. My engravers mark is an authentic Celtic Eagle, (pictured) it has a letter code underneath it. Every powder horn that I engrave whether it is A PRESENTATION HORN for the NRA or for DUCKS UNLIMITED or for THE CREW OF THE LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION or for the MOTION PICTURE and TELEVISION ACTORS FUND (THE GOLDEN BOOT AWARDS) or for a MUSEUM in MONTGOMERY, NY from my most highest priced powder horns to the more affordable are all registered with this code. The powder horns are not visually dated because I have been told that some of us would like to think that they are older then what they really are. Not that I am encouraging anyone not to tell exactly the truth. However, it has come back to me that I must have lived 250 years ago. The reason that I keep records is at the rate my power horns have been going up in value. I think I owe it to the future antique dealers to be able to tract a particular horn. It is my sincere hope that you will join the ranks of the hundreds who have already purchased my powder horns and enjoy them for field use or for display. Please look forward to see more of my powder horns on eBay. From time to time I will be offering powder horns with wood parquetry inlay on the wood butt plugs. Map horns with Lewis and Clark and The Buffalo Hunter themes. At times I shall offer some power horns with authentic Celtic designs. And for good measure I will be offering some of my 18th century nautical theme powder horns and other surprises. Thank you again for taking the time to bid on my powder horns. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have creating them for you. YOSEF
