COLORFUL COMPLETE SET OF 24 FORTUNE RED CARDS OVER 30 YEARS OLD! Cast overboard the doldrums that plagued ye like a fever, matey, and sail a steady course to the Magic Kingdom! One exquisite and complete mint set of the 24 fortune telling cards from "Fortune Red", the mechanical pirate teller whose presence in Disneyland dates back from before the opening (1966) of Disneyland's landmark attraction "Pirates of the Caribbean". Fortune Red was originally in the Pirates Arcade Museum which became the Pieces of Eight store adjacent to the Pirates ride in New Orleans Square. Working closely with the legendary designer Marc Davis, it was designed by Disney artist Sam McKim per Walt Disney's specifications (who loved old carnival magic tricks and fortune teller machines). Sam designed a pirate who for a quarter would show you where "the buried treasure might be hidden." At the end of the Pirates' fluted music (which can be heard on the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack 35th anniversary CD for the first time outside the arcade on track 25!) a fortune red card would come out of the machine. Sam wrote wonderful elaborate fortunes on each of the 24 cards with vivid descriptions of Disneyland rides and landmarks long gone but there in 1966. Fortune Red lasted over 30 years.
