You are bidding on a: EOCENE FOSSIL GREEN RIVER FORMATION DIPLOMYSTUS 10" x 12" F1 specimen Collected at the famous Green River Formation Fossil Lake near Kemmerer, Wyoming This fish is the 2nd most common species among the fossil fishes of the Green River Formation. The morphology of its body and the structure of its mouth are peculiar features of predators. It is not uncommon to find prey in its stomach or mouth. The Diplomystus is very difficult to prepare because its thin scales are hardly ever preserved in ideal conditions. The fish from this formation are from the Eocene period, estimated to be 45-60 million years old. Every fossil we sell is professionally collected, carefully cleaned, properly prepared and all of our plates are tested for stability. No restoration on this fish.
