You are bidding on a: EOCENE FOSSIL FISH PERFECT little PRISCACARA, LIOPS On a matrix of 5 X 7" F1 QUARRIED Collected at the famous Green River Formation Fossil Lake near Kemmerer, Wyoming This is a very nice specimen without any restoration. The Priscacara is easliy identified by its deep, oval, sunfish like body. Priscacara has stout dorsal and anal spines which may have protected it from being swallowed from behind by the voracious fish of the Green River Lakes. Priscacara, like Knightia, appears to be a schooling fish. The plants from this formation are from the Eocene period, estimated to be 45-60 million years old. Every fossil we sell is professionally collected, carefully cleaned, properly prepared and all of our plates are tested for stability. Entire plate measures: Approx. 5.00" x 7.00" rectangle.
