Up for bids is a large vintage Foster Bros. butcher knife. More info about - FOSTER BROTHER & CHATILLON KNIVES FACTORY - 1878 TO 1953 can be found - /FOSTER_KNIVES1.htm This knife is about 20 inches long overall, with a 14" blade, and a two piece, steel riveted, hardwood handle. The full tapered blade ranges from 1-5/8" to 2" wide, and is .105" thick, at the spine, tapering to .025" at the edge. The light surface rust that was on this knife when I found it, cleaned up nicely, but left some shallow pitting in a few areas. The worst pitting is shown in the second photo. The handle shows some light staining around the rivets, but otherwise the plates are tight, with no cracks, dents, or other damage Shipping will be USPS parcel post or priority mail to any US destination. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING - please don't ask. Note: eBay has recently discontinued support for any payment methods other than Paypal, Propay, Moneybookers, and merchant credit card accounts. I'm not even allowed to mention any other payment methods in my listings. As a small time seller, I can only accept Paypal. The Auction Experience - I generally buy the kinds of things that I find interesting, and offer them at a low starting bid, usually based on what I paid. Many times, my items go for the starting bid or do not sell at all. Sometimes, I am pleasantly surprised by the amount of bidding on an item, but in either case I'm still learning, and that's what makes it fun. Please don't ask for a BIN price, or off eBay transaction. Be-Aware of Snipers - For those of you, who are fairly new to the game. a SNIPER is someone who waits, or uses sniper software, to place his/her bid in the final seconds of an auction. T's nothing wrong with this, and I do it myself occasionally. If you bid on an item that you really want, make sure to bid as much as you're willing to pay. Many times you'll still get it for the starting bid, but you'll stand a better chance of winning. If you use Paypal, and your shipping address is unconfirmed, please expect to be contacted for verification, before shipping. T are many legitimate reasons for a shipping address to be unconfirmed, and all I ask for is a brief eMail reply. As for shipping, I use USPS exclusively. Normally, I weigh the item, round off to the next pound, and add a pound for packaging, or I offer flat rate shipping, if applicable. In some cases I have lost money on shipping, and other times I have upgraded the buyers choice, but in no case, will you pay more than what was specified on my listing. I take pride in my packing, and insurance is seldom necessary, but it is an option. I use Paypal shipping service and Paypal always sends shipping notices to the sender and the buyer's Paypal email address. If you don't receive a shipping notice within 24 hrs. of paypal payment, check your spam filter, blocked items folder. I always leave feedback when the transaction is complete. That is, when you, the buyer, receive your item and are satisfied. You are the first one to know this, and the feedback system is a convenient way to let me know that our transaction is complete.
