I am selling a huge lot of old Fostoria American that belonged to my Grandmother, born June 30, 1900. SEE MY OTHER ITEMS FOR THE REST OF THE SET. History of these crystal dishes, to those interested: these 6 mint condition champagne glasses (or tall, stemmed sherbet/sorbet glasses) belonged to my Grandmother, Lottie Sefcik, pure Czeckosloviakian woman born June 30, 1900. She was born and raised in a Czeck community in Snook, Texas, speaking only Czeck until she went to first grade w they made her suddenly speak only English. She later moved to Taylor, Texas, w she met my Granddad John Allen Sefcik, and finally ended up in Austin, Texas. We'd have our fruit coctail, and/or our sherbet or ice cream desserts in these tall stemmed 'champagne' glasses, with our holiday dinners. My Grandmother later passed these pieces on to my mother, Joyce Sefcik-Blaney, and my mother passed them along to me. Over the many decades, they have been very gently used (maybe once per year at the most) and treated with utmost care and love. They are filled with rich memories and I would hope the buyer would respect their history and perhaps pass down this history to their own loved ones. Dimensions, stemmed sherbet glasses, or champagne glasses : height is 4 and 1/2 inches tall, diameter is 3 and 7/8 inches at top. and they weigh in at the following 6 unique weights: 7.9, 8.0, 9.2, 8.9, 8.7, and 7.5 ounces. The fact that they vary in weight gives testimony to the handmade natureof these custom-crafted early-1900 unique-originalone-of-a-kind-special-glasses. The identifying features that tell us it is indeed authentic Fostoria American Crystal include: 1. crystal-cut bottom -- around it's round bottom edge.2. Mold lines - t are three mold lines, indicative of authentic Fostoria American Crystal symmetrical pieces. The mold lines are barely perceptible. PERFECT, sparkly, full of prisms and pop and zing. Surfaces of cubic pattern is ultra-smooth, sensual, and fun to touch. While these are 'used', they are absolutely MINT, with no visible scratches, bubbles, or imperfections. They are perfect. We must not have had ice cream or sherbet very much, is all I can say, as these have escaped without any wear that I can see. WOW. SO beautiful ...
