pismowego2 PRESENTS........ a FABULOUS FOSTORIA ANTIQUE LAMP SHADE......EXTREMELY RARE! THIS FOSTORIA Glass Specialty Co., Fostoria, Ohio lamp shade was made sometime between 1910 and 1914. It's distinctive vertical leaf and vine and heavy gold threading is found ONLY on their shades. They called these items, "IRIS WARE" and used a paper label on them, most of which were washed off, as was this one. THIS fabulous ANTIQUE shade can be found in the book, "Fostoria Ohio Glass Vol. II" by M. Murray, page 129. THANK YOU FRANK! THANK YOU FRANK! It measures 5.75" tall x 4.25" across at the top, 2 and 1/8" wide at the bottom portion that fits over the socket and the hole w the light bulb goes measures 1.5". This is a really, rare, unique piece of decorative FOSTORIA IRIS WARE art glass! It is made of cased glass, or sandwiched glass. The inside layer of glass is gold aurene, then a layer of white glass, then the outside layer of yellow/pale green opalescent glass...was applied with the distinctive vertical vines and gold and green leaves...in the design.....then the HEAVY GOLD THREADING was attached to the top surface. This threading is also opalescent or irridescent with a yellow gold color having opalescent purple hues. This shade has a gold aurene interior.
