Each of these four soup bowls is decorated with a different flower sprig in the center. The flower designs were adapted from illustrations by Jane Wells Loudon (1807-1858), whose lithographs are housed in the Smithsonian Institution Libraries, Botony Division. A complete description of the dishes is printed on the bottom of each one, as shown in the photograph. The bowls are stoneware, made for the Smithsonian by International China Company. The rims have blue & green bands and a green leaf design. They measure 8-1/2" across and are 2" deep. One of them has a tiny scratch on the rim, otherwise they're perfect.
